Costa Rica is a classic getaway destination that is getting more and more popular. One of the appeals of this Central American country is that it sports two coasts (Atlantic/Caribbean and the Pacific), and the forests - jungles, actually - are populated with exotic toucans and moneys and peppered with volcanoes.

Needless to say, mountain bikers, hikers and all sorts of adventurers have taken a shine to Costa Rica.

While all this tourism and traffic has taken a toll on the local environment, Costa Ricans are very serious about its preservation and have become very responsible stewards of their homeland.
